The project "Development of ultra-fast communication infrastructure"
The goal of the "Extremely high-speed communication infrastructure development" project is to ensure access to ultra-high-speed communication for homes and businesses where infrastructure development and service provision cannot be ensured by market participants.
It is planned to provide high-speed communication access to 14,909 households, 1,348 companies, and 138 electronic communication service providers will be able to use the infrastructure created during the project. During the assessment, it was determined that in planning to provide the subjects with high-speed communication access, it will be necessary to build 63 new communication towers and install the equipment necessary for the functionality of the communication infrastructure.
In order to achieve the goal of the project, the task is:
Bring ultra-high-bandwidth broadband access to households and businesses in the "white spots"
Qualitative changes expected to be achieved after the implementation of the project:
Increased communication speed in rural and remote areas
Private operators have been given the opportunity to provide services in commercially unattractive areas
Increased attractiveness of rural and remote areas for residents and businesses
The value of the "Ultra-fast communication infrastructure development" project is slightly more than 30 million. and is financed by the funds of the European Union funds and General financing for the years 2021-2027. The project is planned to be implemented by 2027. in April
The applicant of the project is VšĮ "Platiajuostis internetas". The institution's activity in the state interest is the development of broadband infrastructure and the provision of wholesale broadband services in commercially unattractive settlements. The project applicant has all the necessary financial, institutional, organizational and other necessary capacities for project implementation.
