A discussion in Vilnius focused on the progress of whistleblower protection in Lithuania and the European Union
On September 23, 2025, a forum was held at the Office of the Prosecutor General in Vilnius to discuss current issues related to whistleblower protection and the implementation of the EU Directive. The event brought together experts in law, healthcare, and business ethics from Lithuanian and European institutions. Representatives of the public institution Plačiajuostis internetas, responsible for implementing anti-corruption measures within the organization, also attended the forum.
The discussion covered the progress of implementing the EU Whistleblower Protection Directive, institutional readiness, and practical challenges. Particular attention was given to the role of internal reporting channels - how they can help foster a culture of trust within organizations and promote transparency. The participants also analyzed research data on how these channels function in practice. Questions were raised about the effectiveness of internal reporting systems in Lithuania, and experiences, insights, and best practices in implementing whistleblower protection policies were shared.
