On August 6, contractors were granted permission to begin the initial installation of fiber-optic lines as part of the "Ultra-Fast Connectivity Infrastructure" project.
The first lines will be installed in the villages of Jokūbiškiai, Pakalniškiai, and Skėmiai in the Radviliškis district.

The project, titled "Ultra-Fast Connectivity Infrastructure," is being implemented by the public institution "Plačiajuostis internetas" and aims to ensure access to gigabit-speed broadband for entities that promote social and economic development. The newly built fiber-optic lines will enable telecom operators to provide internet, television, and other services to these key institutions.

During the course of the project, gigabit-speed connectivity is planned to be made available to 5,000 entities located in rural or remote areas.

The total value of the "Ultra-Fast Connectivity Infrastructure" project amounts to nearly €49 million and is 100% funded by the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Facility under the "Next Generation Lithuania" plan. The project is scheduled for completion by April 30, 2026.

The infrastructure developed through the project will be used by "Plačiajuostis internetas" to provide wholesale connectivity services to all telecom operators under equal terms and conditions.
